From Curio Cabinet to Pie Safe
Punched copper inserts turn a boring curio cabinet into a
contemporary pie safe. The inserts are easily crafted with a hammer and
awl.
Old-fashioned pie safes were always the perfect
place to cool and store baked goods. Perforated metal inserts in the
doors allowed ample ventilation while keeping bugs (and little fingers)
at bay. This modern version replaces the old-fashioned tin inserts with
sparkly copper but retains all the charm of the original.
The hand-punched paisley design was traced from
a scrap of wallpaper. |
