Frontier Sales offers professional appraisal services for many different reasons. An appraisal is a detailed report outlining values for your personal property including: furniture, household contents, art, antiques, and other collectibles.

 

We are furniture appraiser experts. Our appraisers are fully certified by the Canadian Personal Property Appraisers Group (CPPAG) and have a combined 16 years experience in the industry. Our core areas of expertise are: North American antiques; early 20th century to mid-century or "vintage" furniture; replacement cost and fair market value of modern furniture; fine art and collectibles; and general household contents including electronics and appliances.

 

What types of Appraisal Services do we offer?

 

Estate Administration Tax or "Probate Fees"

Many clients are unaware that the personal property of an estate must be inventoried and valued during the probate process and taxes are to be paid on their value. In 1998 Estate Administration Taxes replaced Probate Fees and have become much more regulated. Our professional appraisers will provide you with a detailed, itemized list and a corresponding value for each item in the estate given in the form of a professional, written report. Do not pay more than you have to and avoid potential re-assessment of the value of the deceased's estate with a neutral and professional appraisal report.

 

Matrimonial Purposes

Divorce

Equitable distribution should be the main goal of divorce settlements. A professional appraiser should be hired when it comes down to furniture, art, antiques, collectibles, and other household items, to ensure fair distribution. By having a neutral, unbiased, and professional opinion of value the distribution process could become relatively quick and painless.  Your lawyer will receive a thorough report identifies and values each item in question. This will cut down on litigation time, quicken the negotiation process, and ultimately cut down on your final costs.

 

Prenuptial Agreements

A prenuptial agreement is an agreement between two people that deals with the financial consequences of their relationship ending. Call us to conduct a Personal Property Appraisal of each person’s goods before you sign this type of agreement. We will clearly identify each item, in a very simple form that can be understood in the event that there is break down - or dispute of this agreement. Our unbiased appraisal- conducted by a certified appraiser can be used by both individuals to minimize legal costs, such as court time and lawyer preparation.

 

 

Insurance Purposes

Antiques, fine art, sports memorabilia, and other rare collectibles can be extremely valuable assets. Most people rely on their homeowners insurance for protection against losses to these items. Unfortunately, many are unaware that their policies usually exclude these from coverage. You should have these items appraised by a professional and certified appraiser to ensure proper coverage.

Unfortunately, many clients call for an appraisal AFTER the loss has occurred. While it is possible to give a credible appraisal in this instance, it’s always better to get the fair market value or replacement cost of the piece appraised BEFORE loss occurs.
